IANTD ADVANCED DPV DIVER

Course

The IANTD Advanced DPV Diver course was the first program of its kind, specifically designed to provide students with complete and adequate training in exercises and theoretical knowledge necessary for effective and safe interaction with a DPV (Diver Propulsion) Vehicle, in Italian: underwater dragger) and make them acquire confidence and responsibility in this type of training based on the experience gained as a diver.

Course overview and purpose

  1. The Advanced DPV Diver course must be developed with a minimum of 130 minutes of water + theory.
  2. Credits are not allowed.
  3. Theoretical lessons will focus on the following topics:
    • Advantages and risks of DPV.
    • Equipment.
    • Diving techniques.
    • Load distribution – Planning.
    • Gas sharing techniques.
    • Traction techniques.
    • Emergency techniques.
    • Transport and storage.
    • Maintenance.

Course requirements

  1. At least 18 years old.
  2. Be at least IANTD Deep Air Diver qualified (or equivalent from another agency) with at least 50 certified dives.

Course duration and restrictions

  1. At least one session in closed water to develop diving skills.
  2. At least one hundred and thirty (130) minutes of diving (bottom time) to be performed in four (4) dives.
  3. Maximum depth 40 meters, maximum total decompression time 15 minutes if participants attend the Advanced Course. The maximum depth of the exercise is 18 meters. The maximum depth of the exercise is 18 meters. Only in the final dive, if the student has done all the exercises correctly and has a previous certificate that qualifies him for that depth, a height of 48 m can be reached. The dive must be planned and all necessary decompression performed. Visibility must be good (minimum 15 meters).
