IANTD ESSENTIAL DPV DIVER

Course

The IANTD Essential DPV Diver course was the first program of its kind, specifically designed to provide students with complete and adequate training in exercises and theoretical knowledge necessary for effective and safe interaction with a DPV (Diver Propulsion) Vehicle, in Italian: underwater dragger) and make them acquire confidence and responsibility in this type of training based on the experience gained as a diver.

Course overview and purpose

  1. The Essential DPV Diver course must be developed with a minimum of 100 minutes of water + theory.
  2. Credits are not allowed.
  3. Theoretical lessons will focus on the following topics:
    • Advantages and risks of DPV.
    • Equipment.
    • Diving techniques.
    • Load distribution – Planning.
    • Gas sharing techniques.
    • Traction techniques.
    • Emergency techniques.
    • Transport and storage.
    • Maintenance.

Course requirements

  1. At least 18 years old.
  2. Be qualified as a minimum Advanced Open Water Diver (or equivalent from another recognized agency) with 25 certified dives.

Course overview and purpose

  1. At least one session in closed water to develop diving skills.
  2. A minimum of one hundred (100) minutes of diving (bottom time) should be performed in four (4) dives.
  3. Maximum depth 18 meters and without decompression stops.
  4. The maximum depth of the exercise is 10 meters.
  5. Only in the final dive and only if the student has performed all the exercises correctly, a height of 30 m can be reached.
  6. A dive must not have mandatory decompression, but only safety decompression.
  7. Visibility must be good (minimum 15 meters).
